Step One: We Start With the Story

Before we even reach for a loupe, we look to establish the watch’s provenance where possible.

We aim to understand:

• Where and when the watch was originally purchased
• Whether it was bought new or on the secondary market
• The reason for its sale
• Identification where necessary
• Stolen watch / Insurance register checks

We also carefully log everything that accompanies it:

• Inner and outer box
• Warranty card or electronic registration
• Country of registration
• Manuals and booklets
• Wallets and swing tags
• Service documentation
• Original purchase receipt

It sounds procedural because it is but it does matter. Understanding a watch’s journey is part of understanding the watch itself.

Step Two: The Bramlys Inspection

Every watch undergoes our structured aesthetic and mechanical inspection, assessing condition, originality and functionality.

We examine (where applicable):

• Overall wear and surface condition
• Dial surface and print integrity
• Dial font correctness
• Hour markers and hand alignment
• Crystal condition
• Case symmetry and edge definition
• Crown, winder and pushers
• Rehaut engraving
• Bezel and bezel insert
• Bracelet or strap condition
• Spare strap(s)
• Clasp function and engraving
• Caseback
• Serial and reference numbers
• Movement
• Timekeeping

We’re looking for consistency. Period correctness. Mechanical health.

Is the dial correct for its production era?
Are the fonts right?
Are the bevels still strong?
Has the case been sympathetically polished or aggressively refinished?

Nothing is assumed.

Mechanical Performance

Not just “does it run” but how well does it run?

Where applicable, we test:

• Timekeeping rate
• Amplitude
• Beat error
• Chronograph reset alignment
• Date change timing
• Power reserve
• Winding efficiency
• Other functionality such as moon phase, etc.

Sports models may undergo pressure testing suitable for daily wear.

We’re not selling theoretical performance, we’re verifying actual performance.

And if something requires attention before sale, we will deal with it responsibly.

In today’s market, this is non-negotiable.

We confirm:

• Serial and reference alignment
• Movement calibre correctness
• Lume consistency under UV
• Engraving quality and placement
• OEM vs aftermarket components (clearly disclosed)

If a part has been replaced during service, we’ll tell you.
If a strap is aftermarket, we’ll tell you.

Polishing itself isn’t the enemy – poor polishing is. Structural integrity always comes first.

Once inspection is complete, the watch moves to photography.

Every piece is professionally photographed in-house. Not just dial shots but full condition transparency.

We capture:

• Dial detail
• Case profile
• Bracelet and clasp
• Movement (where visible)

We don’t artificially boost colours.
We don’t soften marks in post-production.
We don’t hide honest wear.

If you zoom in on our listings, you’re seeing the watch, not a filtered version of it.

Before a listing goes live, there’s a final check:

• Function tested once more
• Visual inspection repeated
• Details reviewed
• Description verified

Only then does it appear on the website.
