For those who don’t know Bramlys yet, what exactly do you do?

"In short, we buy and sell luxury watches. Our stock is carefully selected and includes some of the most desirable and collectible models from brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Omega, Cartier - and many more. We work with clients across the UK and internationally, whether buying or selling, searching for their first special watch, building a collection or sourcing a hard-to-find piece. We have both an online and physical presence with our showroom in the beautiful, historic city of Salisbury, where we work on a strictly by appointment only basis."

What is the ethos of Bramlys as a business?

"Transparency and trust are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in clear, honest communication, accurate descriptions and, as watch enthusiasts first and foremost ourselves, selling & sourcing only the kind of watches we’d be proud to personally own. We try not to overcomplicate things. We find that simple, straightforward approach helps form long-term relationships with clients who come back time and again. We also believe buying a luxury watch should be enjoyable, not intimidating, so try to make it fun as well where we can."

How does Bramlys offer value to their clients?

"As well as value from a service perspective, which is obviously less tangible, we also aim to be amongst the most competitively priced in the UK, if not Europe. We work to smaller margins in order to achieve this but that way, we sell watches, our clients receive value and hopefully everyone’s happy."

What guidance do you offer to first-time buyers?

"We advise prospective first-time buyers to do thorough research (it’s one of the most fun parts of the whole process!) in order to be able to make informed decision-making. Understanding the various brands, models - and more importantly how they align with personal preferences and functional requirements, is crucial. There is a plethora of information sources out there nowadays, with YouTube, specialist websites, etc., but never hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss anything at all, we love to help. A luxury watch represents a significant investment, both financial and personal, so careful consideration is essential."

How many watches do you typically sell in a month?

"On average, we sell between 60 and 70 watches a month. From modern classics to rare or discontinued references, every single piece that passes through Bramlys is inspected, authenticated and presented with the care it deserves. As well as our website and social media platforms, all of our watches can be found on Chrono24 and eBay and we are also proud to be a marketplace partner of Watchfinder. Client recommendations/word of mouth and repeat business is essential for a business like ours and we are incredibly fortunate to have built up such a wonderful client base who are so supportive."

How do you source your watches?

"We work with a network of private collectors, long-standing clients and trusted trade contacts. Every watch is verified, not just for authenticity, but also full functionality and condition before it’s offered for sale. If a piece doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t make it to the website. Simple as that. Our clients have two options when it comes to selling their watch. We can either offer to purchase the watch outright or help sell the watch on consignment/SoR, where we market the watch on their behalf and deduct a small fee upon completion of its sale. It’s extremely important to us to offer both avenues of sale depending on our client’s needs and wants."

Who are your typical clients?

"There honestly is no typical client, and that’s part of the beauty and fun of this business and industry. We work with everyone from first-time buyers making a milestone purchase to seasoned collectors with encyclopaedic knowledge of movement calibres! Our clients come from all walks of life, different cultures, and purchase watches for very different reasons. We also work with investors who view watches as tangible assets. Whether someone walks in knowing exactly what they want or needs a little guidance, we’re here to hopefully make the process as straightforward and seamless as possible."

How important is trust and reputation in the watch world?

"Trust isn’t just important - it’s everything. Clients are making significant purchases and often for sentimental or investment reasons. We’re proud that our reputation is built on integrity and doing things properly. We don’t get everything right all the time, but if we make human errors, we’ll always hold our hands up and immediately put things right."

What trends are you currently seeing in the watch market?

"There’s a continued strong appetite for timeless classics - particularly steel sports models from Rolex, Tudor, Omega and Audemars Piguet. But we’ve also recently seen an increase in interest in vintage and neo-vintage pieces. Collectors are definitely becoming more educated and value-driven, so as well as the latest and greatest, people want interesting pieces with substance and staying power that offer value for money."

Do you offer services beyond selling watches?

"Absolutely. We offer sourcing for clients searching for specific models, servicing & repairs in partnership with our watchmakers and service centres, valuations for insurance or resale and guidance for those looking to start or grow a collection. We’re here to try to make sure the whole experience of watch purchasing, and owning is enjoyable, secure and informed from start to finish."
